In this work I wanted to make a "talkative" and emotional illustration. As the book itself is not an easy, every-day reading, it was important to convey this message with the cover. I played around with symbols of barge, smoke, coal, chimney to express the feeling of polluted air and dirty water, as the main metaphor to convey the mood of the novel.
